The State of the Bulletin 2020 church communication survey results are available now.

October 6th, 2020 — bltn has now released the results of the 2nd annual State of the Bulletin church communications survey. The 2020 edition of the survey expanded the questions to cover all the different methods of communication that a church could use, including print and digital bulletins, live streaming, and social media.

The survey shows that the COVID-19 pandemic had major impacts on the way churches communicate with their congregations. The results show a dramatic drop-off in print bulletin usage and a large increase in live streaming of services.

Social Media continues to be a large aspect of church's communication with over 99% of respondents indicating they use the social media platform Facebook as a communication tool. Over 75% of respondents indicated they post on social media multiple times per day with 62% saying their church does not have a clear social media strategy.

  • 62% have stopped printing church bulletins because of health concerns regarding COVID-19
  • 88% live stream services
